Sheila Fiorella

Rev. Sheila Fiorella

Sheila Fiorella is the founding pastor of New Day United Methodist Church in Mansfield, Texas. She grew up in Akron, Ohio, in the Portage Lakes area, before graduating from Coventry High School. Sheila earned a B.A. in Secondary Education: Math and Spanish from the University of Akron, a Master of Education in Teaching Math from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), and a Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth.

Sheila taught for 13 years at Gateway School and in the Arlington Independent School District (Carter Jr. High, Boles Jr. High, and Martin High). She joined the staff of St. Barnabas United Methodist Church, her home church in Arlington, in 2000.

Sheila is married to her junior high school sweetheart, Russ Fiorella, and they have 2 wonderful children named Russell and Rachel.

Alex Vorse

Alex Vorse joins the New Day UMC team after eight years as Leader of Contemporary Worship at St. Barnabas UMC in Arlington (Sheila’s home church).

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Texas Wesleyan University and worked the past decade as an arranger, composer, music director, orchestrator, producer, programmer, copyist, and keyboardist at professional regional equity theatres such as Dallas Theater Center, Dallas Children’s Theatre, Kansas City Starlight Theatre, Second Thought Theatre, and Casa Mañana Theatre. Community and educational experience includes Theatre Arlington, Kids Who Care Inc., Martin High School, Mountainview College, Theatre Wesleyan, and University of Texas at Arlington.

Alex also teaches children locally as Director of Keyboard Studies for Shepherd Music Experience.  His first child, Hazel, was born in September 2010.
